ISMARA Calix
Ismara is 6 years old.
Ismara has myasthenia gravis, a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease that causes weakness in her skeletal muscles because of a defect where her nerve cells connect with the muscles they control. That makes simple things like breathing often profoundly difficult and painful for Ismara. Myasthenia gravis means it’s difficult for Ismara to be active or go to school.
While medication, therapy, and surgery in the future might help Ismara, there is no cure for her disease.
She is a beautiful and intelligent little girl and she brightens the center with her smile!
Ismara’s birthday is March 13, 2013.
