NICARAGUAN LIVES CHANGED
Through our programs, we radically transform the lives of kids, their families, and the community of Jalapa, Nicaragua.
Our Impact
Approximately 12% of children under the age of 14 in Nicaragua experience some type of disability. More than 80% of the families in our program live in extreme poverty for less than $3 per day.
We at The Mercy Kids Foundation have provided the first access to physical therapy, medical care, dental care, mental health services, education, and community that the vast majority of our families have ever experienced.
The Mercy Center
The Mercy Center is the single physical therapy center of its kind within a two-hour drive of Jalapa Nicaragua. Each week, our staff sees kids at no cost to families. We provide physical therapy, stimulation for children that are developmentally atypical, education to children and families, and daily devotions with the ultimate goal of guiding both the child and the child’s family into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
Mercy Connects
Mercy Connects promotes the inclusion of our kids into the local community. We provide opportunities for kids who have not been able to attend school to receive an education through a local school system. Each child has the opportunity to receive individualized academic tutoring. Furthermore, at the Mercy Center, children and families receive education on healthy eating, hygiene, and other essential life skills.
Mercy Medical & Send
We provide individualized medical-care plans for each child. This plan includes neurological treatment, dental care, audiology care, and even surgeries when necessary. We work with both local and international providers.
Mercy Care
Our palliative care program serves kids who cannot travel to The Mercy Center and experience severe malnutrition and profound illness. We improve their quality of life through comfort while also offering support to their parents and families.
“I found a second family here for us at The Mercy Center. It has been a great blessing and makes it much easier to cope. There is so much love between the staff, and between us as mothers and our children…”
— ELEANORA, ISMARA’S MOM
